It was a long journey with a lot of people in the van. I listened and I watched the birds in the fields as we whizzed by on the freeway. I learned a new way to communicate about birding. I found a new a way to connect urbanites with the open fields of the countryside. And we did all of that without using our birding binoculars That is part of why I am a birder.
