Crib bedding can make a nursery look wonderful, but the pillows and comforters should be used as decorative items only, because they are not safe to have in your child’s crib. A minimalist approach to selecting the bedding for your child is a safe bet, and if there is any uncertainty you can always consult a professional pediatrician.
While cute and cuddly, stuffed animals should be removed from the crib before your child is asleep as they can cause your child to suffocate. As long as you are watching, your child can play with toys in the crib, but take them out as soon as he becomes sleepy, and make sure they’re out of reach.
You’ll have much more freedom to decorate a toddler’s bed, because then it will make sense to have comforters and pillows on the bed, but by that time, your child will expect to make at least some of the decisions.
